CCC Total Donation to Earthquake Relief is: $15,041.77
As of June 24, 2008, CCC has collected $15,041.77, in total, donated by its members and friends for the China earth quake victims. This marks the largest donation amount in CCC 28 years of history. On June 24, CCC mailed a check of $15,041.77 to the Red Cross. Thank you letters from the Red Cross to CCC members and friends will be published on CCC website as soon as CCC receives it. CCC members and friends who donated by personal checks should expect a thank you letter and a receipt from CCC soon. The Chinese Culture Center, a non-profit and non-political organization, was founded in 1980 to promote, preserve, and influence the course of Chinese-American Culture. The Chinese Culture Center offers a variety of educational and cultural programs. These programs range from lectures, workshops, dance and musical performances – all of which enable members of the Chinese-American community and the general public to gain a deeper knowledge of historical Chinese and Chinese-American Culture. The Center maintains the Connecticut Chinese Language Academy, a school that offers Chinese language and culture classes at both Timothy Edwards Middle School in South Windsor and the Central Connecticut State University. The Center also conduct the Youth Summer Camp, teaching dance, singing, Chinese painting, arts and crafts, and hosting an annual Spring Festival to celebrate Chinese New Year, and participate and co-sponsor the Annual Dragon Boat Festival at Riverfront, Hartford.
